The New South Wales government has made an encouraging and clever move by inviting some of the most innovative people in the world to the future technology transport summit. One of the esteemed guests is Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, or “Woz”, plus 150 sharp minds who are leaders in tech and transport.
The two-day summit, April 18-19, is focused on discussing and uncovering big ideas to reform the states transport system, and with help from the Apple co-founder, things are looking up. The biggest discussions will revolve around the very near future of driverless cars, which are predicted to be ready for roads within 5 years.
Transport minister, Andrew Constance is looking forward to hearing from Wozniak.
“You couldn’t have a better mind to come to Sydney to talk about the future and identify the big ideas,” Mr Constance said.
“We want the innovations, we want to hear from the global leaders when it comes to transport and technology and what better person to kick off the program than the co-founder of Apple.”
In Wozniak’s announcement that he would be attending, he gave a brief insight into what kind of ideas we can expect from him at the summit.
“The summit is a way to start thinking about how we’re going to get people in towns and cities across NSW from point A to point B using the latest advances in technology from around the world,” he said.
“With the population set to jump by around 2 million people in the next 20 years and technology moving faster than ever before, we’ve got to get ahead of the game.”
The summit will also tease the idea of driverless trains and buses, which we struggle to imagine! It sounds like something out of Blade Runner but it seems the world, and NSW are ready for it.
