Solar power is the new king

By 2030, it is estimated that more and more households will be using solar power rather than power supply devices that chew up energy bills. Thanks to more air conditioners, larger televisions, more web-connected devices and bigger fridges and washing machines, Australia’s usage of power is at an all time high.

Add to this the growing population estimated to boom to 30% more over the next 20 years. How can we sustain this power?

According to the Australian Energy Market Operator annual forecast, major changes will need to be implemented to keep up with the power consumption problem.

It seems Queensland is the most problem area with large export gas projects taking precedence of electricity consumption up by 8.3%.

It’s about time that a new generation of energy-efficient consumer products help cut our power consumption by as much as 15 per cent from present levels within two decades.

Icy cold winters and hot summers mean extra demand on heating and air conditioning which is just not sustainable. Instead, rooftop PV [photovoltaic systems] are changing power flows.

Australian Energy Market Operator believes batteries will become economic over the next decade or so and their roll-out could be faster if subsidies are introduced.
