Organ donations too far?

Yet another update of Apple is coming for Apple users in America soon which encourages many to register as organ donors through an easy sign-up button. The new update was announced on Tuesday who will release an updated version of their health application on iOS 10.

The health app through the software system helps you manage your fitness and diet whilst also using Medical ID, making important medical information available in a case of an emergency. The app displays allergies, medications, blood type and have now added the ability to register you as a donor for your eye, tissue or organs.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services in the US, there are still 120,000 people waiting for a transplant. The issue comes from a very personal matter as CEO of Apple, Tim Cook had to watch his friend, Steve Jobs anxiously wait for a new liver. He died two years later after being diagnosed with pancreatic Cancer. “Watching and seeing him every day, waiting and not knowing — it stuck with me and left an impression that I’ll never forget,” said Cook.

Other tech companies such as Android and Facebook also encourage organ donations, in the similar way Apple does. Facebook lets you share your organ donor status and find your nearest donor registry if you tick you are not an organ donor.
