Apple is working on an Apple iCar, Project ‘Titan’

Apples most secret project, nicknamed ‘Titan’, has just been leaked. Apple has joined the likes of Tesla, Google, and Chinese company Baidu in the race to build the perfect driverless car. Apple CEO Tim Cook had a meeting with Bloomberg Television not too long ago about the autonomous driving project, and the contents of that meeting have found their way onto the internet.

Cook explains that Apple has decided to turn it’s focus to “autonomous systems”.

“It’s a core technology that we view as very important. We sort of see it as the mother of all AI projects. It’s probably one of the most difficult AI projects to actually work on,” Cook said.

Hundreds of Apple staff have been working on the project to develop the technology needed to create an autonomous driving system for Apple.

There has been a lot of behind-the-scenes action around developing this project which, despite only just being made public, has been in the works for a while. Project ‘Titan’ started in 2014 when 1,000 engineers were hired to bring the iCar to life. In April, Apple did a test-drive on three of their vehicle types. Approximately six Apple cars where seen being test-driven on public roads by an onlooker in San Fransisco who had some knowledge of the project. Although Apple has reportedly been testing the vehicles for about a year, Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr refused to comment on the duration of the testing.

Technology experts are predicting that Tesla and Google will be given a run for their money with their version of the autonomous car. These big brand technology companies are changing the way commuters get to and from their destinations. The release date for the Apple iCar is set to be for 2020, however, it is alleged that Apple is only working on the self-driving system and have stopped creating the actual car itself for now.
