A female driver has been killed and 4 others have been injured when two cars crashed head-on on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
One of the Bridge’s southbound lanes has recently reopened after all of the Bridge’s lanes were closed to allow NSW Ambulances to access the incident, which occurred at about 7am.
Four people required immediate treatment following the crash, which occurred when a Mitsubishi Mirage travelling north and a BMW travelling south collided.
A female driver was trapped inside her car since the accident, yet has been freed by the NSW SES following 90-minutes of prying the roof of her car.
Since then, traffic has snowballed on all roads towards the Bridge.
“All of the northern lanes are closed, some of the southern lanes are closed and the advice to everyone is to avoid this area,” said 7News senior reporter Andrew Denny.
Buses and other forms of road transport are also being heavily affected.
“Buses that usually travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge are terminating early, with buses travelling towards the city from the north terminating at North Sydney, Chatwood and Macquarie Park station. Consider catching a train to continue your journey,” tweeted Busesinfo.
