Sydney-based company, Airtasker, just secured a $22 million Series B investment led by Seven West Media and now wants to become an Australian household name. The 4-year-old startup provides an online and mobile marketplace enabling users to outsource everyday tasks. It allows you to access thousands of skilled people from furniture assembly to data entry tasks.
Chief Executive, Tim Fung told The Australian Financial Review that additional funds were needed to hire more staff, develop its technology and increase its marketing efforts. The company is already growing dramatically with its total number of users doubling since May 2015 from 250,000 to 600,000.
Fung also told Business Insider, “Becoming an Australian household name is a new benchmark. We’re helping Australian people and businesses get more done with their day.”
As part of the deal Seven West’s sales director Jenny Hosie will take a seat on Airtasker’s board. Seven West Chief executive, Tim Worner said that with their assets, a lot can be done for Airtasker.
