Sydney’s Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas (SCCI) lands at London’s Design Museum next week, exploring the ideas and creativity of leading figures at the cutting edge of Australian fashion and architecture. Over two weekend hubs, the SCCI Fashion and Architecture Programme will showcase over 40 of the best designers and thinkers in Australian fashion, architecture, culture and art.
To celebrate the SCCI x the Design Museum hubs, luxury styling mobile gaming app DREST is launching a series of in-app challenges to coincide with the programme. The partnership will give players the opportunity to create looks inspired by leading Aussie designers and locations in the metaverse.
The first two challenges will launch on 28 October 2022, and will be set in London’s Design Museum, giving DREST players the chance to style the collections of two Australian fashion designers Among Equals and Romance Was Born. Among Equals is a brand focused on generating profit for purpose by empowering artisan weavers in Papua New Guinea, with values that align with DREST’s mission of using digital for good. The Romance Was Born challenge will give DREST players the chance to create looks inspired by the ‘Australiana’ aesthetic behind the brand’s bold designs.
For the architecture hubs, launching on 4 November 2022, DREST will challenge players to create a fashion shoot in the featured architects’ project locations, using a dedicated edit of Australian brands; bringing the worlds of architecture, fashion and gaming together for a unique experience.
The challenges will crucially give emerging Australian designers the chance to reach a new highly engaged audience with a keen interest in luxury fashion and creativity through DREST, offering invaluable exposure for new talent.
Dr Gene Sherman, Founder & Director of SCCI, said: “DREST and SCCI share the same future-focused vision. I am thrilled that one of Australia’s rising fashion labels, Romance Was Born, and one of the Pacific region’s most ingenious artisan-empowering not-for-profits, Among Equals, join the stable of international designers for this special SCCI Fashion Hub collaboration with DREST. The best of Australian fashion is now, with DREST, at your fingertips.”
Lucy Yeomans, Founder & Chief Brand and Product Officer of DREST, added: “We are delighted to partner with the Sherman Centre for Culture and Ideas to showcase some exciting Australian creative talent within DREST. The London Design Museum, the home of creativity, is the perfect backdrop for this collaboration and we look forward to bringing to our users some fantastic emerging Australian brands to discover and style with, as well as introducing them to some of the country’s most interesting architectural talent.”
DREST is the gaming company that merges the creative worlds of luxury, beauty and lifestyle with the infinite possibilities of the metaverse. Holding the elements of metaverse at its core and taking exclusive real-world events to offer players the chance to improve and exhibit their styling talent using the latest luxury fashion and beauty collections, DREST is the ultimate fashion playground, a unique space where brands, talent and institutions can connect with audiences keen to discover, experience and be part of a creative community.
Look out for the DREST x SCCI collab landing on DREST from 28 October.
