Netflix Australia has officially banned VPN and now we are stuck with the limited selection of TV and movies that our local version has to offer. Now it may become even worse for Netflix addicted Aussies as Josh Korn, the Global Public Policy Manager says they are struggling to approve more shows by the Australian Government’s Classification Board.
“There are significant obstacles associated with classifying large volumes of content,” says Korn. He says his solution to this drama is Netflix classifying its own shows, this reducing the delay of shows coming out from America to Australia.
The board is obviously against this idea as this will give Netflix an authoritative gain to something they may not know about. It may seem unfair though, as the gaming industry have their own classification manager. This is how games are so readily produced. If only our Netflix company could do something like this for Australians, viewers could stream their favourite shows faster and more easily.
Recently, news has been released that there will be a new show ‘Anne’ as a new production of the ‘Anne of Green Gables’ series. It will be released as a Netflix Original and the show is set to premiere at the beginning of 2017. Another new series that will appear shortly is the most-talked about show ‘Friends From College’ starring popular comedians such as Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peel) and Fred Savage (The Princess Bride).
At least us Aussies have a few shows we can look forward to. The second season of Narcos, the new series from Marvel: Luke Cage as well as three new series for kids.
